Sunset in the Maasai Mara

Maasai Mara

Big cats, open plains and the river crossings of the migration, within a day’s travel of Nairobi.

The Maasai Mara is Kenya’s best-known game reserve. Open grassland makes wildlife easy to spot, and lions, cheetahs and leopards are seen on many drives.

Watch the wildebeest cross the Mara River from July to October. The reserve is rewarding in every month, so the right time depends on what you most want to see.

  • Game drives across open plains
  • River crossings in the migration season
  • Lions, cheetahs and elephants
  • Optional visit to a Maasai community
